Salsa con Coco Dance School represented New Zealand in the 4th Annual World Salsa Championships in Miami in December, 2009
The 4th Annual World Salsa Championships were held 16th – 19th December 2009, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, HollyWood, FL.
The Salsa con Coco Team was selected by the world’s premier producer of live Salsa Music and Dance events – Albert Torres at the New Zealand qualifying event for the World Salsa Championships (the NZ Pacific Salsa Congress, Easter 2008).
The Salsa con Coco Team began as a squad of over 30 dancers from a variety of backgrounds, united by our passion for dancing and desire to represent New Zealand at the highest level – the World Salsa Championships!
From the squad, a final team of six couples flew to Orlando, Florida, and competed in the World Salsa Championships Team category. Click on the image below to check out the team’s performance on YouTube!

Getting the team to the World Championships was an expensive exercise.
It cost us tens of thousands of dollars for airfares, costumes, shoes and accommodation.
We wouldn’t have got there without the generosity of our supporters.
